As a parent, I’m always cautious about the books I bring into my home, especially for teens and young readers. This book was such a refreshing find! It’s a fun, exciting story that kept us engaged from beginning to end, while still being completely clean. There’s zero spice, no inappropriate language, and no awkward content to worry about, which is becoming harder and harder to find these days.
The story moves quickly, the characters are enjoyable, and it has the kind of adventure that makes you want to keep turning pages. I would absolutely feel comfortable recommending this to other parents looking for an entertaining read without compromising on content.
The stakes rise quickly in this story for ages 9 - 99. While you won’t find a crunchy magic system or hundreds of pages of worldbuilding, the author quickly finds his strength at the core of the novel. The relationships between the characters are compelling and I quickly found myself invested. Sira’s classic coming of age story evoked feelings I remember from reading books like Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia as a kid. I was surprised by how quickly I became attached to Tatiana, Sasha, and even Ivan. Looking forward to the next book!
A rare gem in today’s fantasy fiction landscape. This is an exceptionally well-written novel with characters you genuinely come to care about, and it’s a pleasure to watch them grow in courage, character, and confidence throughout the story. The pacing keeps you engaged from beginning to end, making it very difficult to put down.
Best of all, the book focuses on what matters most: a compelling story, memorable characters, and an exciting adventure. No agendas—just great storytelling that teens will love and parents will appreciate. Clean, engaging, and highly recommended.
